A French quinquina from the Chartreuse region, originally developed in the 19th century as a fortified, aromatized wine infused with gentian root and quinine. Built on a base of mistelle (unfermented grape must fortified with spirit), it combines alpine botanicals with bittering agents for structure.
Dark and herbal, with notes of gentian, cocoa, dried fruit, and a touch of citrus peel, balanced by a firm, earthy bitterness. The palate is rich yet lifted, with a long, gently bitter finish that makes it well suited as an aperitif or in spirit-forward cocktails.
