This special project from Argentinian wine importer Matt Hedges honors his two great uncles who fought in different camps in WWII who, by complete chance, reunited in France during the war and (if family reunion anecdotes are to be believed) tracked down and shared a bottle of bourbon. The path from still to bottle mirrors the journey of the family, starting with 10-Year Heaven Hill distillate, harkening back to the Elliot’s southern heritage. The finishing oak casks originally hail from France and were used to hold Black Tears Malbec from Mendoza, reflecting the family’s present-day life in Argentina. A singular offering with a captivating story, this first release was bottled by hand, each from a single barrel.
