Intimate knowledge of their vines and stewardship of the land form the foundation of this producer's approach to winemaking. The Ornellaia vineyards extend between the coastal village of Bolgheri and the sea, planted in terroir once partially covered by Mediterranean waters. Soils range from marine in origin, to clay, to volcanic; each vineyard parcel possesses its own unique expression. For the 2020 vintage, head winemaker Olga Fusari blended 50% Cabernet Sauvignon with roughly 30% Merlot; the remainder is made up of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Each cluster was hand-picked and hand-selected from the sorting table for optimal quality. Prolonged aging in oak barriques reveals a velvety cuvée with finesse and length.
